Tribute To Grandma Gatewood

Join Mountain Conservation Trust of Georgia for a unique and educational event at Eagle’s Rest Park near Japer on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Actress Anne Van Curen, will present her original dramatization, Grandma Gatewood Hikes the Appalachian Trail. Emma Gatewood (better known as Grandma Gatewood) was the first woman to solo hike the Appalachian Trial in 1955 at the age of 67. MCT is offering this free event to be held on Mount Oglethorpe, the original southern terminus of the A.T. and where Grandma Gatewood began her historic journey.
