Frank Wright, the author of Stained-Glass Curtain, a novel inspired by his hike of the Appalachian Trail, will lecture on the history of the trail, with emphasis on the trail’s beginning on Mt. Oglethorpe.
The new western viewing deck will be the location for the Appalachian Trail lecture.
In celebration of the Spring Equinox, those arriving before the 2pm Wright Lecture will be given wild flower seeds to sow at Eagle’s Rest.
The Wild Flower Bunch of Big Canoe has made a donation to enable the public to sow some wild flowers at Eagle’s Rest on Mt. Oglethorpe. Those who wish to plant seeds are encouraged to bring a small digging trowel or similar garden tool in order to give the seeds a chance for survival.
Work on the stone eagle sculpture continues. The public is invited to help build the stone eagle that is on the south face Mt. Oglethorpe. Rocks and stones are easy to find since they cover the surface surrounding the stone eagle sculpture.
